Monomi Park's first, and so far only, game, Slime Rancher, is the best game out there when it comes to ranching slimes.

In all seriousness, this game is an absolute joy to play.

The indie title sees you play as a rancher who has recently moved to the Far Far Range, a somewhat vast area populated by slime! As a farmer, your goal is to explore the Range, collect various types of slime creatures, and keep them fed and healthy in specialized slime enclosures.

Despite having such a simple premise, Slime Rancher manages to have an incredibly addictive gameplay loop that will keep you coming back to it time and time again. There is a simple joy to collecting different types of these colorful creatures and combining them together to make all new slime types, all while trying to fend off the dangerous Tarr slimes, which can ruin a perfectly good slime flock if you aren't careful.

Collect resources from your slimes to unlock new areas of the expansive map to explore and adventure into these new lands to collect new types of slimes. Upgrade your farm with both practical and cosmetic items to really make it feel like home. Whatever you choose to do, Slime Rancher manages to make it enjoyable.

The game also features multiple playable game modes for different types of gamers.

Don't want to have to worry about Tarr Slimes damaging your slime herds and cutting into your profits? Try the more laid-back "Casual" mode where those evil creatures are nonexistent. Or, if you're looking for a more frantic and fast-paced game mode, try the time-sensitive 'Rush Mode."

If you're a gamer who likes easy Achievements, Slime Rancher has you more than covered. See your Xbox Gamerscore skyrocket in only a few hours as you'll rack up plenty of achievements just playing the initial stages of the game.

The game is currently available for around $20 on most digital storefronts and is also included on Xbox Gamepass, so if you're looking for a bright, cheerful game with fun 3D visuals, addictive gameplay, and lots to do, you'd have to be insane to not give Slime Rancher a try.
